A Touch Of Class - Article Planning Sheet

Planning Comments
article genre
(purpose, type)
The first article I have chosen to write is called ‘A touch of class’ this is a human interest article, I think a lot of people will be interested in the content. The article explains the life of Marilyn Monroe and how she has influenced generations.
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person)
The narrative voice I will be using is 3rd person, ill be describing Marilyn Monroe a lot and using ‘she’, I think this is the best narrative voice to use, I may have to include my point of view at some points which means I may be mixing in some 1st person views.
Register
(informal/formal, colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
I don’t want the article to be too formal because as it’s a mostly teenage audience they have a short attention span and by having a chunky formal article will not attract them to read it. I will work on it being mostly informal but with educating content.
Stylistics
(repetition, strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing, rhythm)
I may use some metaphors to describe Marilyn Monroe, ill probably use strong verbs too, to emphasise her very large personality that she had.
Tone of address
(hectoring, sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
I don’t think ill be including anything such as sarcasm, because its not going to be that informal, I want it to have an interesting feel about it without being too boring.
Structure and pace
(discourse structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
I want to start with a story, something inspirational that Marilyn Monroe did to kick off the article and interest the readers, then ill include facts, how she influenced, and then conclude the article at the end. I don’t want it to be too long, and I would like it to flow in small paragraphs.
